Join us for this inaugural Valentine's weekend event to benefit the Food Pantry of Alpine and provide Sul Ross scholarships to graduates of Brewster, Jeff Davis, and Presidio County high schools! 
 

SHARE THE LOVE! 

Help make a difference in the lives of others from our community and enjoy some healthy fun!  The event is open to ALL, from casual to serious walkers and runners.

There is NO Registration Fee for the event, but we do ask that each participant raise (or contribute) a minimum of $50 to benefit the Food Pantry of Alpine and/or the SRSU Local Student Scholarship Fund. 

Our ONLINE FUNDRAISING SYSTEM makes raising money simple! 
 

THE 5K 

The Love Your Community 5K is a scenic walk/run starting at 9:00 am in front of the Residential Living/Lobo Village Office & Rec Center.  (Click for Campus Map - #17

The 3.1 mile course will take participants off campus and onto Brown Street and Fighting Buck Avenue for a stroll or run past Kokernot Park.  Participants will then travel the Loop Road/Path back up to campus.  A detailed course map and description will be posted shortly.

The event is open to casual and competitive walkers and runners of ALL ages.  Walkers and runners will share the same course, with runners leading the pack at start time.  Participants are welcome to carry babies and toddlers in strollers and child backpacks.  And although we love them, no dogs, please.

On Race Day, beverages, fruits and other carbs will be available for participants and volunteers from 7:00 am - on at the Residential Living Office & Rec Center.   Participants will find ample nearby parking.
 

T-SHIRTS & PRIZES! 

Support from generous local businesses and organizations have made the following prizes possible, and ensure that the $$ raised will benefit local families and students!

  • Raise $50:  Long-Sleeve Event T-Shirt  (view t-shirt)
  • Raise $100: Event T-Shirt & Duffle Bag  (view duffle)
  • Raise $150: Event T-Shirt & Duffle & $20 Amazon Giftcard

Anyone raising $150 or more will also be entered into our prize raffle drawing featuring hotel stays, restaurant certificates and electronics (see raffle prize list to date!).  Raise $250 or more, and receive THREE entries into raffle! The Prize Drawing will take place on Tuesday, February 18th at noon in the lobby of the University Center.  All donations received through Monday, February 17th will be accounted for when determining participants' eligibility for the raffle.

Additional awards will also be provided to Runners: Top 3 male/female overall, then top 3 male/female (no duplication of awards)

FUNDRAISING HAS NEVER BEEN SO EASY

Our ONLINE FUNDRAISING SYSTEM makes raising money simple!

There is NO Registration Fee for the 5K, but we do ask that each participant raise (or contribute) a minimum of $50 to benefit the Food Pantry of Alpine and/or the SRSU Local Student Scholarship Fund. 

When you register or the 5K, a personal and secure online fundraising page will be created for you in hours. We will send you the link to your fundraising page so you can share it with friends, family, co-workers and neighbors.  Individuals who want to sponsor you will just need to click on the link to reach your fundraising page and make an online donation on your behalf.  Send it by email; put it on Facebook, etc.  We'll let you know daily who has sponsored you and how much money you've raised.
 

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED BUT YOU MAY REGISTER SAME-DAY AT THE EVENT ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH BETWEEN 7:00-8:00 AM

Advance Registration closes on Wednesday, February 12th at midnight.  You may register on race day between 7:00-8:00am with a $50 registration fee/tax deductible donation.

Race Packet & Prize Pick Up

Please try to pick up your Packet and Prizes* in advance of Race Day!  Packets and Prizes will be available at the Alumni Affairs Office in room 204 of the Morgan University Center of Sul Ross on February 13th & 14th during the following times.  On Race Day, packets and prizes will be available at the Residential Living Office & Rec Center, our starting point for the 5K, from 7:00-8:30am.  

  • Thursday, February 13th: NOON to 7:00 PM
  • Friday, February 14th: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, February 15: 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM (Race Day)

* If you receive additional online donations after pick up and become eligible for more prizes, we'll make sure that we get them to you!   Please note that donations received through Monday, February 17th will determine eligibility for the prize raffle.
