The Mexican government and Sul Ross State University recently entered into an agreement to advance higher education for Mexican nationals living in the U.S. and attending Sul Ross-Rio Grande College.
Dr. Ricardo Maestas, president of Sul Ross State University and Ricardo Santana, Consul of Mexico, met on the campus of Rio Grande College in Del Rio to formalize a $3,000 grant provided by the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME). The funds will be used for scholarships specifically for full-time Mexican nationals living in the Del Rio area and enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies.
Santana stated that it is important to the Mexican government to help educate students and is excited to provide resources to further that effort. He has been a longtime supporter of Sul Ross and is gratified Mexican students have the opportunity to continue their education at the school. On behalf of SRSU, Maestas extended thanks to the Mexican government and said he is delighted to have the help for students.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship may contact Rosa Linda Sanchez, Student Support Specialist on the Del Rio campus at 830.703.4812.
