Dr. Edison Moura, professor of business administration at Sul Ross-Rio Grande College, captured the attention of a global audience at the Annual Conference of the Academy of International Business Southeast Chapter in Atlanta, Georgia in October as he and his son, David, a second-year Ph.D. candidate, presented their findings on peer-reviewed research they conducted.
The conference hosted 275 attendees from all over the world who have an interest in international business. The Mouras studied the challenges multinational corporations in emerging market economies face when staffing their subsidiaries abroad, especially those from Brazil. For years, companies based in developed nations expanded into developing economies. Now, businesses in emerging market economies are flipping that model and increasing their business presence in developed nations. Dr. Moura follows international business interests closely and also chaired a forum at the conference.
The Brazilian native brings practical experience to the classroom. Prior to working in higher education, he held a variety of positions in business and industry and uses that background as a practical component in his instruction. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in international business and marketing for six years at Rio Grande College. Moura enjoys helping students see that education will open many doors that might otherwise remain closed to them and, even though he teaches a full course load, he makes time to continue the research and writing that he loves.
