Surveys in Big Bend Ranch State Park

Senic BBRSP The Center has conducted four separate CRM survey projects in Big Bend Ranch State Park since 1995.

These consist of "An Interior Primitive Campsite Survey in Big Bend Ranch State Park, Presidio County, Texas," "Archeological Reconnaissance of Upper Fresno Canyon Rim, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Texas," "Archeological Survey of Select Boundary and Power Line Segments, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Presidio County, Texas," and "Archeological Survey of Select Power Line Spurs, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Presidio County, Texas."

These reconnaissance and intensive surveys have resulted in the documentation of 102 archeological sites within approximately 4,800 acres of the 298,028-acre park.

Data derived from these investigations has allowed park managers to effectively plan development and maintenance strategies for this large park while considering the effects of these projects on cultural resources.
