Information for Distance Education Students
(including Rio Grande College)
Distance Education is defined as a Web-based class, a class that is broadcast from the Alpine campus to another location, or is taught at a location
other than the Alpine campus. The following information is designed to assist students who are enrolled in Sul Ross State University courses but
seldom (if ever) come to the Alpine campus.
Although the Eagle Pass and Del Rio campuses have learning resource centers and all RGC students may use the services and resources of the Southwest
Texas Junior College Library in Uvalde, Sul Ross students enrolled in classes at Rio Grande college are encouraged to use the resources that
the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library offers to all students of Sul Ross State University.
Username, Password, Student ID (aka your "A" number), and Library PIN Number
To fully utilize Sul Ross library services, you will need your username, password, student ID, andlibrary PIN number. Your username and password are used
to remotely access the library's research databases and your student ID and library PIN number are used to access your library account. If you do not know
this information, contact the Help Desk at 1-888-691-5071 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Books and Other Media
WebCat, the Wildenthal Memorial Library's electronic card catalog, is available from the library's home page to anyone who can access the Internet.
No password is necessary to search for books, videos, DVDs, CDs, etc. owned by the library.
My Library Account
You can renew materials online or see your currently checked out materials and unpaid bills by choosing "My Account" in WebCat and entering
your Student ID and library PIN Number.

Electronic Books
The Sul Ross library has access to a large collection of electronic books through a company called netLibrary. In order to access netLibrary books
off-campus, you will need to create an account through the netLibrary interface. If you need assistance accessing netLibrary books or creating an account,
call the Information Desk at (432) 837-8272.
Magazines, Journals, and Newspaper Articles
The research databases are available off-campus only to currently enrolled Sul Ross students, faculty, and staff. In order to access the databases,
enter your username and password when prompted.
Obtaining materials NOT owned by the Sul Ross Library
Distance education students who require books or articles not owned or electronically accessible from the Sul Ross library may request materials via
Interlibrary Loan. Please see the

TexShare Cards
Distance education students who are interested in borrowing books from other libraries in Texas can request a TexShare card. This card must be renewed
each semester and allows currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff to use participating Texas libraries. Please see the page on
