Information for Sul Ross State University Faculty
Username, Password, Campus Wide ID, and PIN Number
To fully utilize Sul Ross library services, you will need your username, password, Campus Wide ID (100 or A) number, and PIN number. Your username and password are used to remotely access the library's research databases and your CWID and PIN number are used to access your library account. If you do not know this information, contact the Help Desk at x8765 or 1-888-691-5071 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
My Library Account
You can renew materials online or see your currently checked out materials and unpaid bills by choosing "My Account" in WebCat and entering your 100 number and PIN. Faculty users who do not know their 100 number can enter their Social Security Number (without dashes) in the Banner ID field.
Online Renewal of Library Materials
- Sul Ross faculty members are permitted 3 renewals per book.
- Sul Ross faculty members are permitted 2 online renewals for audiotapes, books on CD, books on tape, compact discs, CD-ROMs, filmstrips, kits, and slides.
- Due to high demand, bestsellers are limited to 1 renewal.
General Hints
- Faculty are advised to time their book renewals for the last month of the Spring, Summer 2, or Fall semesters.
- New due dates for media and bestsellers are based on the date renewed rather than the original due date.
- For example, an item is checked out for 2 weeks on May 18 and is due on June 1.
- If it is renewed on May 19, it is checked out for another 2 weeks and is due on June 2. But if it is renewed on June 1, it is checked out for another 2 weeks and is due on June 15.
- To take advantage of the renewal process, renew media and bestsellers as close to the original due date as possible before they become overdue.
- Once items are renewed, please take note of the new due date. You will be responsible for returning items on time. If the system will not let you renew an item, you must return it to the Library to avoid accruing fines.
- Items that have been requested by other library patrons are not renewable.
- Your library account must be in good standing to renew items online. Ten overdue items or $10 in bills will block your record.
Obtaining materials NOT owned by the Sul Ross Library
Sul Ross faculty members who require books or articles not owned or electronically accessible from the Sul Ross library may request materials via Interlibrary Loan. Please see the Interlibrary Loan page for more details.
Title Source Book Ordering Program
Title Source allows you to search by author, title, subject, or ISBN to find out what books are available on your specific subject and in what formats. Using a cart system, each department can then send its recommendations to the library for ordering. Check with Ross Burns, rburns@sulross.edu, (432) 837-8417 for further details.
TexShare Cards
Sul Ross faculty members who are interested in borrowing books from other libraries in Texas can request a TexShare card. This card allows current Sul Ross faculty to use participating Texas libraries and must be renewed each year on September 1. Please see the page on TexShare for more details.
