The Museum of the Big Bend offers a diverse program of art, history and cultural education to children ages 6 – 14 years. All programs are held in the Museum of the Big Bend Education Center.
WEEKLY CLASSES
After-school weekly classes are offered in the fall and spring during which children explore and learn through a variety of media. Watercolor, soft sculpture, painting, paper mache and various crafts make for a fun and exciting hour of exploration!
SATURDAY AT THE MUSEUM
Throughout the school year “Saturdays At The Museum” are offered monthly. Children spend a half day at the museum focusing on a specific theme such as “Ranching & The Cowboy Way,” “Patriotism” or “Holiday Fun.”
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM
And of course, one of our most exciting children’s events is our annual “Night At The Museum.” Nocturnal adventures await! Children bring their sleeping bags, pillow and pj’s to enjoy a slumber party at the museum. Flashlight tours, a planetarium visit, movies and crafts make for a memorable event.
SUMMER ART CAMP
During the summer, the Museum of the Big Bend hosts weekly art camps for 6 to 8 year olds and 10 to 12 year olds. Children enjoy creating and learning in a fun weeklong day camp.
