The Museum features a world-class permanent exhibit, Big Bend Legacy. Learn about the world's largest flying creature, the Quetzalcoatulus Northropi; the role of quicksilver, or mercury, mining in the area; the impact of the Mexican revolution and Pancho Villa on the border; and other fascinating people and events that have transformed the Big Bend area.
In addition, periodic exhibits showcase photography, art, history and culture indicative of the region. Check back often to see what's on display at the Museum of the Big Bend!

The Museum of the Big Bend collection began with an arrowpoint found in the Sunny Glen area of Alpine, Texas, in 1920. From such a humble beginning, the Collection has grown many times over. From fossilized remains to contemporary art, the Collection reflects the broad diversity of the Big Bend region. To schedule an appointment for access to the Collection, please contact Mary Bones at 432.837.8734 or maryb@sulross.edu.
