SUL ROSS FOOTBALL COACHING FINALISTS ON CAMPUS DEC. 17-19
Three finalists for the Sul Ross State University head football coaching position will be on campus for day-long interviews Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 17-19.
The yet-unnamed finalists were selected from a pool of over 30 applicants.
While details regarding travel arrangements and the specific day that each will be on campus are pending, on-campus interviews will commence Tuesday, Dec. 17 and conclude Thursday, Dec. 19. Plans are being refined but tentatively each candidate will spend a single day on campus.
An open forum for the campus and local communities likely will occur at 10 a.m. each morning with a closed forum for student athletes immediately following. Actual times and event locations will be announced early next week along with the names and brief biographical sketches of each finalist.
A short list of potential finalists was submitted from the search committee to Dr. Quint Thurman, interim President, who will make the selections.
“I commend the search committee for its dedication and diligence in advancing the process to this stage in an expedient, yet thorough manner,” said Thurman. “It is essential to have a well-qualified individual in place in advance of the recruiting season to enable the Lobo program to move forward.”
Dr. Jimmy Case, interim Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, served as committee chair. Other members were: Ken Batchelor, San Antonio, Sul Ross alumnus and Executive Manager, Ken Batchelor Cadillac; David Rogers, President, West Texas National Bank, Alpine; Taylor Richey, Sul Ross graduate student; Dr. Larry Guerrero, Dean, College of Professional Studies; Cesar Valenzuela, Vice President for Finance and Operations; Antuan Washington, Director of Recreational Sports; and Dr. David Watson, Assistant Professor of Political Science and faculty representative to the Athletic Council.
