JOHN PEARCE NAMED NEW SUL ROSS FOOTBALL COACH
John Pearce has been named the new Sul Ross State University head football coach.
Pearce, who served the past season as defensive line coach at Blinn Community College, Brenham, will begin his new duties in January. He was chosen from over 30 applicants and brings more than 20 years of collegiate coaching experience to Sul Ross.
“We are pleased to welcome John Pearce to the Lobo family,” said Dr. Quint Thurman, interim President. “He has had a successful career with several collegiate programs and we are confident he will provide excellent leadership for Lobo student-athletes that balances success both in the classroom and on the field.”
Pearce joined the Blinn College staff last season after nine years at Prairie View A&M University, including two as defensive coordinator. Other collegiate coaching stops include Catholic University (Washington, D.C.); Bowie State University (Prince George County, Md.); Shepherd College (now University, Shepherdstown, W. Va.); and Norfolk (Va.) State University.
A 1991 graduate of the University of Delaware, majoring in health and physical education, Pearce received a Master’s degree in secondary education from Bowie State. He and his wife, Samantha Krumpe, have two sons, Max and Calvin, who are both high school students.
