Funding Sources

Funding sources may include:

  • Private or independent foundations
  • Family foundations
  • Community foundations
  • Company-sponsored foundations
  • Corporate charitable giving
  • Federal Programs
  • State Programs

In addition to the identification of possible funding sources, other pre-award services include consultation on proposal development, project design, data gathering, editorial review, budget construction and identifying suitable potential funding match.

The office can also assist coordinating proposed activities with other university officials and departments, local and regional initiatives and national priorities.

TheOffice of Sponsored Programs submits electronic proposals on behalf of the university. When required by the funding source, the office can also be engaged to submit hard copies including a letter of introduction/support from the president and any required attachments.

Once a grant is awarded, the office coordinates award implementation by working with the primary investigator, grants accountant, business office and other involved divisions and departments. It maintains records of submitted, approved and declined proposals and retains records of funding extensions, memoranda of understanding, subawards, contracts and annual reports.
