Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) project will provide Sul Ross the opportunity to reduce the cost and streamline management and maintenance of university-owned lab computers. An initial VDI pilot for 60 computers was scheduled to go live at RGC- Del Rio in the Summer of 2013. After some initial trial and testing, it was determined that this technology stack might be a better fit for the Alpine campus since it has more residential students and a larger number of labs to service. The primary advantage of this project will be to reduce the TCO for any particular lab computer significantly and allow issues to be resolved more quickly.
