He has taught a Sam Houston State University, The University of Northern Iowa and now Sul Ross State University. Dr. Hunter is well published in the criminal justice field and has researched and written on such topics as: Prison Gangs, The Drug War, The Death Penalty, Jail Management and others. He has served as an advisor to the Iowa State Legislature on crime issues, and has been called as an expert witness in numerous criminal court cases.

Kessler has served as the director of the SRSU Law Enforcement Academy. He has also served as both a prosecutor and defense attorney and has worked in a juvenile delinquency program. In addition, he has taught at the University of Memphis, Arkansas State University, Rockhurst College and El Paso Community College.

He is a TCLEOSE-certified instructor and has provided hundreds of hours of training to law enforcement personnel, primarily on the issues of liability and arrest, search and seizure. Kessler has numerous papers and publication, primarily on gun control and liability issues. His primary research areas are arrest, search and seizure, ideology, gun control, liability and the Second Amendment.

Rubenser's research interests include policing issues and minority issues in criminal justice. She currently serves as the Secretary of the Southwestern Association of Criminal Justice. She is also Co-Editor of the Police Forum publication of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Police Section featuring peer reviewed research articles and other items of interest relating to policing.
