Sul Ross State University was opened in 1920 as a state supported normal school for teachers. Our continuing mission in the Department of Education is to develop life-long learners who are reflective practitioners of their craft. Our vision includes preparing high quality educators.
Educational certification programs are being revised. As this transition occurs, changes must be made in course offerings, content, and sequence. It is important to check with an advisor in the Education Department each semester for updated information.
The Education Department offers degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Undergraduate degree programs leading to teacher certification include: Early Childhood-Grade 6, Grades 4-8, Grades 8-12 or All-Level.
Additional information is available in the Sul Ross State University current catalog, or you may visit the Teacher Education Program web pages.
