The curriculum of the Department of Industrial Technology offers course work leading to a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology and a bachelor of science in industrial technology with certification for teaching technology education/industrial technology education in the middle schools and high schools in Texas. In addition, several industrial technology courses are offered as support for a degree in Agricultural Science and Technology Education Certification.
The department is one of only a few remaining programs outside of the strict engineering fields that continues to train students in more than just the theory of industrial processes. With fully-functioning laboratories in the metals, foundry, woods, welding, small engine, drafting, CAD, photography, plastics, CNC and CIM areas, students are able to acquire skill as well as knowledge in nearly all the industrial process they will encounter after they earn their degree.
Student lab assistants hired by the department allow the facilities to be open nearly all day so there is ample opportunity to develop skills as far as a student desires.
