Farm Bill 2002 and the RC&D Program

The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, known simply as Farm Bill, authorized or reauthorized a number of conserveration programs, including the Resource Conservation and Development Program. The legislation simplified existing programs and created new ones to address high-priority environmental and production goals. The programs of Farm Bill 2002 are administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Resource Conservation and Development Program

The Resource Conservation and Development Program encourages and improves the capability of civic leaders in designated RC&D areas to plan and carry out projects for resource conservation and community development. Program objectives focus on "quality of life" improvements achieved through natural resources conservation and community development. Such activities lead to sustainable communities, prudent land use and the sound management and conservation of natural resources.

More About the Program

The information that follows is not intended to be a definitive interpretation of farm legislation. It is preliminary and may change as the USDA develops additional policies and procedures.
