At Sul Ross, our classroom is the great outdoors - the Big Bend region of Texas. Our faculty and staff share your passion and respect for nature and wildlife. If you're looking for a school where you can immerse yourself in studying ecology, biology, ranching or environmental science, you'll feel right at home in this wide-open country.
The Sul Ross Natural Resource Management program is built on giving our students the hands-on training and experience they will need in their future careers and a solid footing in scientific principles. Our students and graduates spend a lot of time out in the field, studying the natural world. They work in labs and on remote sites, learning how to use sophisticated equipment to measure and analyze the environment.
The Department of Natural Resource Management offers a major in Natural Resource Management, with concentrations in Agricultural Business, Conservation Biology, Range Management and Wildlife Management. For each concentration, there is considerable specialization, but across the disciplines, there is a focus on ecology, habitat management and biology.
All Natural Resource Management concentrations can lead to professional certifications, such as The Wildlife Society certified wildlife biologists and Society for Range Management certified range professionals. This is all to prepare graduates for a variety of career options, including range conservationist, ranch manager, environmental planner and game warden.
Here, you can follow your passion for being out in nature and turn it into a career. If you're looking for that kind of opportunity, follow the links on the sidebar or contact anrs@sulross.edu today.
