Scholarships
The 2009 Reunion was a HUGE success - through the local donors, corporate donors and all of our members - we were able to raise $10,000 in funds for scholarships! $10,000 has been The funds have been distributed for ANRS Academic and Rodeo scholarships ($5,000 each). There are two scholarships (one academic and one rodeo) named in memory of Marty Acton and two other scholarships (one academic and one rodeo) named in honor of SandRidge Energy, Inc. The remaining $12,000 has been deposited in the Association's Permanent Scholarship Fund for future scholarships.
Between 2001 and 2009, we have raised over $85,000 in scholarships funds for Sul Ross State University. This includes a permanent scholarship fund for the continued growth and support of the programs administered by the ANRS and in support of the Rodeo Program. The account currently has a principal balance of approximately $20,000.
Following the summer Reunion, the Executive Board determines the amounts of funds to be distributed as scholarships and to the endowments, Scholarship funds are then remitted to Sul Ross State University in the established scholarship accounts. Once these monies have been remitted to SRSU, final allocation of these funds are at the sole discretion of the Dean of ANRS and the Rodeo Coach. The Association does not determine to whom the scholarships are awarded.
