MITS UPDATE:
IT/LIB Joint Technology Presentation - Spring/Fall 2009 - "Creating and Instructional Audio/Video for your Online Course"
Tim Parsons, with OIT in Alpine, and Renée Goodvin, Sul Ross State University's Education Coordination Librarian will present on the topic of creating instructional audio and video for use in your online course.
Tim will cover the different FREE applications one can use to create either audio recordings (of a lecture or other instruction), or videos w/narrative audio (for producing video tutorials, visually commenting on student's work, etc). He will also cover techniques for converting your cumbersome Powerpoints into something a bit more streamlined and easier for your online students to access and view. Renee will follow up with tips on adding audio/video to your Blackboard course as well as a short presentation concerning how she has utilized video tutorials to show online students how to use the SRSU library resources remotely. Finally he'll showcase a great, free, easy-to-use web-conferencing application that allows you to meet with up to 20 students online and deliver a synchronized live presentation wherein you can share whiteboards, documents, and web pages as well share your voice and video over the Internet (there's even a chat function).

IT Technology Presentation - Fall 2008 - Using Grade Center (The Blackboard Gradebook You've been Waiting For)
An OIT Teaching with Technology Event for the Alpine and RGC Campuses covering an upcoming upgrade to Blackboard Enterprise version 8.0 and it's new gradebook function simply called "Grade Center". This new area has many of the qualities of an actual spreadsheet that you were missing in the current Bb grade book, PLUS quite a few extra features that should allow you to have much more control over how you manage and run your online gradebook.
Fall 2008 Technology Presentation Handouts:
Blackboard Enterprise ver 7.3 -8.0 "Best Practice" Presentation- Summer/Fall/Spring 2008-09
A presentation/workshop for SRSU Blackboard instructors that covers best practice and current online techniques and pedagogical issues as well as insight into tips and tricks for the Bb Enterprise instructor. We also single out certain areas for a more instructional approach (online test integrity) as well as how to troubleshoot technical problems with your student and what you can expect to see in the near future as far as our online learning technology. This workshop may be offered departmentally as a multi-hour group presentation or broken down into several one-on-one meetings where the focus is specific to best practice and approach for an individual course. A typical workshop agenda of topics covered can be found below:
iTunes U at SRSU handout - Spring 2008 presentation

Handouts from the two Presentors (Dr. Martin Terry, Tim Parsons):
IT Technology Presentation - Spring 2008 - Using Safe Assign (a new function of Blackboard Enterprise)
SRSU has previously had a campus-wide license with Turnitin, a third-party, online plagiarism prevention service, which many of our faculty have used and are using. We will not be renewing our license with Turnitin at the end of March. Instead, we wish to transition our Turnitin users to Safe Assign, which can be used from within their own Blackboard Enterprise courses starting this summer and doesn't require students or instructors to go outside of our SRSU network to put student papers through this system.
In this presentation we will give a preview of how Safe Assign works and how easy it is to set up in Blackboard Enterprise. We will offer to set up our current Turnitin users (or any party interested in using Safe Assign this Spring) with Blackboard Enterprise courses so that they may start using Safe Assign immediately. We will also use this time to quickly preview Blackboard Enterprise and some of it's advanced functionality.
