Political Science ProgramGeneral Requirement for all Bachelor's DegreesThe state of Texas requires that all students pursuing a bachelor's degree complete six semester hours of pollitical science courses in federal and state government. This requirement may be fulfilled by:
Bachelor of Arts Degree(Political Science Major with Secondary Teacher Certification) See the Education section of this Catalog for information on teacher certification in Political Science, Option I and Option II. Political Science Pre-Law EmphasisLaw schools do not prescribe a specific pre-law curriculum; instead they recommend broad-based, liberal arts preparation. A pre-law curriculum within the political science major has been designed to meet that recommendation. More than 50 Sul Ross graduates are now actively practicing law. Catalogs from most law schools accredited by the American Bar Association are available in the political science office. An active Pre-Law Association exists to further the interests of those preparing for law school. Political Science 1302, The World of Law, is specifically for pre-law students and is offered in even-numbered years. Master of Arts Degree
If less than 18 semester credit hours of course work is used in the supporting area from related disciplines, up to nine additional semester credit hours of graduate Political Science course work can be used to bring the total to 36 semester credit hours. Minor in Political SciencePolitical science is offered as a minor field of study at Sul Ross State University. Students must complete 18 semester credit hours of political science courses, including six semester credit hours of advanced coursework, for a political science minor. |
