Art ProgramFor information on exhibiting work in the Francois Fine Arts Gallery at Sul Ross State University, contact:
Sul Ross State University is located in an area which has served as a source of inspiration for many famous and diverse artists such as the minimal/conceptual sculptor, Donald Judd, and the western painter, Ben Konis. The natural beauty of the land, its historic associations and an incredible sense of open space found here are strong attractions for creative individuals. For many of our art majors, it is a reasonable alternative to the liberal arts programs of traditional undergraduate courses. For others, it is the most important part of their studies in preparation for a career in teaching. The Art program offers a B.F.A. degree in Studio Art, along with teacher certification (secondary level). Students may receive a M.Ed. degree with Art specialization. We offer academic programs specializing in art education, ceramics, painting (including both oil and watercolor), sculpture and art history. If you are considering a career as a professional artist, many opportunities for developing your skill and creativity exist at Sul Ross. You will be given the chance to explore different directions and through a variety of media. Classes are small and allow you to receive individual attention. Studios are accessible to all of our students both morning and evening. |
