The Early Childhood Development Center at Sul Ross State University provides affordable year-round care for the children of SRSU students, faculty and staff members. Serving children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old, it is currently the only licensed center in Alpine providing care for children younger than 2 years.
The center strives to be a development center, not just a day care. The staff, which includes some students as well as members of the community, receive monthly training with an emphasis on areas of development, setting developmentally appropriate goals and providing positive behavior management.
Full-time students receive discounted tuition rates. For details, call the center at 837-0900.
The center was established in January 2002 to provide care to children of Sul Ross students. Other children from the community are accepted when openings are available.
The center is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services. Funding is provided in part by a Department of Education grant as well as through tuition payments, fund raisers and donations.
