Bachelor of Science Degree
Kinesiology and Sports Science

Sul Ross State University offers a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology and sports science. Students may also major in kinesiology and sports science with an all-level physical education teacher certification. Both degrees require a minimum of 130 semester credit hours.

A major must not make a grade lower than a C in the major field. In addition, all majors must successfully complete PE 1156: Swimming, either at the beginning or intermediate level.

In addition, students may complete course work and an apprenticeship to become an athletic trainer. The program offers courses and clinical practicum laboratory experience that provide the hours required to qualify for the State of Texas Examination for Licensure.

Upon acceptance into the athletic training program, students must complete the following courses, some of which may be part of the regular degree plan: PE 1302, 3304, 3306, 4103, 4104, 4302, 4304 and 4305 and Biology 2404.
