CDRC&D Matching Grant Program

Congratulations to La Mujer Obrera in El Paso, our 2009 Matching Grant recipient!

The Chihuahuan Desert Resource Conservation & Development Area Inc. began a Matching Grant Program 2002-2004. Now in 2009 we will be implementing this program again.

The 2009 grant letter and grant application are now available for download in PDF format.

The Matching Grant Program is intended to provide a nominal amount of funding to non-profit organizations and units of government within the Chihuahuan Desert RC&D Service Area. Participants are required to submit an application to the RC&D Council by the specified deadline. All applicants are then reviewed by a committee. Grant applications are ranked according to needs, benefits, and attainment of area plan elements. Selected applications are then submitted to the Board of Directors for funding. Applicants are eligible to submit one (1) application per year. Selected projects must be carried out within one year of approval. In addition to the benefits of funding projects, the Chihuahuan Desert RC&D Council offers this program as a way to introduce many organizations to the process of preparing grant proposals.

A $500 grant will be awarded to an organization in each of the six counties in the RC&D Area.

The program is seeking RFPs for projects that benefit area communities in Brewster, Culberson, El Paso, Jeff Davis, Hudspeth and Presidio counties. A committee of the CDRC&D directors reviews and scores the applications based on the project relevance to the CDRC&D goals and objectives, community, agricultural or environmental need, benefits, commitment and creativity.

The winning organizations will be required to provide matching cash or in-kind donations of service, materials, etc. The board has awarded past grants to the following projects:
