Directions to Mosaic Weveral DEMs into One Grid

  1. Import the DEMs as grids in a view (or just open the grids if you have already created them).
  2. Load the script "ggmosaic.ave" (found at C:\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ArcView\Samples\Scripts).
  3. Close all views except for the one you are working in. Make sure that when you choose "Window" from the Project screen, that only your active view and the script appear in the list.
  4. Go to your active view, and make all grids that you want mosaiced active simultaneously by holding the shift key as you click on each one in the table of contents.
  5. Then go to the script and press the "compile" icon (a check mark).
  6. Next, press the "run" icon (the human figure). You will have to choose a file name and location for the mosaiced grid.
  7. After the script has run, close or minimize the script window and go to your active view. The new grid should be at the top of the list.
