
The Career/Life Center conducts testing for many standardized tests and other exams. Iinformation and registration packets are available at the Career/ Life Center in UC 211 for the following tests:
THEA
Requirements for TSI (Texas Success Initiative), the successor to TASP, must be met by students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in Texas. The THEA fulfills the the rules of the TSI as an initial educational assessment.
THEA-Quick TESTThe THEA-QUICK TEST is an acceptable alternative to the THEA. It can also be used to fulfill TSI.
COMPASSThe COMPASS is another acceptable alternative to the THEA and is computer based. It can also be used to fulfill TSI.
SAT & ACT
Students planning to attend Sul Ross or any other Texas public university must take the American College Test or Scholastic Aptitude Test as part of their admission requirements.
LSAT & MCAT
The Law School Admission Test and Medical College Admission Test are required of students who are planning to enter law school or medical school.
GRE & GMAT
Students planning to attend graduate school must take the Graduate Record Examination or Graduate Management Admission Test as part of their admission requirements.
GED
The General Education Development test is for people who have withdrawn from school without earning a high school diploma. People who plan to take the test must meet age and other requirements.
DANTES
The Defense Activities for Non-Traditional Students program was originally a testing program for the military. Similar to the CLEP program, it enables students to receive up to 30 semester hours of course credit.
Correspondence Courses
SRSU students enrolled concurrently at another institution for correspondence work may arrange to take their correspondence course tests through Career Services & Testing. Students must obtain approval from SRSU officials.
CLEP
The College Level Examination Program is a testing program which enables students to receive course credit by taking an exam. Students can earn up to 30 semester hours of credit by exam.
