To determine density, diversity and seasonal trends of small mammals, bats and herpetofauna at Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area in the Trans Pecos of Texas, 30 transects and 20 drift fences were established across 11 range sites.

Bats were sampled using mist nets over water sources June 1, 1998,-Sept. 1, 1999, for 18 trap nights. Small mammals were sampled using Sherman live traps baited with rolled oats June 1, 1998,-Sept. 1, 1999, for 4,200 trap nights. Herpetofauna were sampled June 1, 1998,-Oct. 15,1998, and April 15, 1999,-Sept. 1, 1999, for 5,460 drift fence nights.

Total species richness across all sites for small mammals was 15, for bats 1, for herpetofauna 9.

Cooperative funding provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
