Student Employment at SRSU

Career Services receives student applications for employment and recommends prospects to university departments seeking student workers. To be considered for employment by SRSU, students should fill out an employment application (an MS Word form with instructions available in PDF) and return it to Career Services, UC 211.

Types of Positions

Jobs on campus usually fall into the following categories: clerical, customer service, animal science background, computer science experience, tutoring or physical/outdoor/heavy lifting capabilities. The majority of departments are seeking light office skills. Employment ranges from working in the dean's office to caring for livestock for Agricultural and Natural Resource Management.

Eligibility for Jobs

To be considered for employment at SRSU, students must be enrolled as a least a half-time student: six hours in a long semester, three hours in a summer session.

Students should have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. and be in good academic standing. Some departments may indicate a higher GPA is desirable.

Some positions may require that the students have their own transportation.

Employment Hours

Almost all student worker positions are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours. Very few positions have evening or weekend hours. Most departments are looking for a student who has blocks of time available, such as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons or Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Student workers usually are employed for a 20-hour work week. A few departments may need a student worker for fewer weekly hours, and occasionally a student worker may be required only for a special activity or event.

When to Apply

Students should apply at the beginning of the semester after they have completed registration process and know their daily schedule. They are asked to re-apply each semester if they have not been employed and want to be considered after their schedule changes.

Campus Jobs

You can pick up applications on the second floor of the UC in room 211 unless noted other wise.
