Graves-Pierce Rules of Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship in Intramural Contest
Good sportsmanship is vital to the conduct of every intramural offering. Poor sportsmanship is a reflection of an individual, but also detracts from the enjoyment of the activity for other participants. Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated and will be dealt with swiftly. Teams and individuals who cannot participate without creating difficulties may be removed from events or leagues.
The following are examples of unsportsmanlike conduct:
- Profanity (participants are expected to avoid the use of casual profanity, and vulgar gestures, even when not directed at a player or game official.)
- Shoving , striking, intimidating, or attempting to, or physically or verbally abusing an opponent or official.
- Failure to comply with directions from a game official, game supervisor, or staff.
Penalties
- Failure to abide by expectations set forth may be subject to penalty.
- Ejection from a contest necessitates immediate removal from the facility or venue.
- Any player ejected from IM competition is required to meet with the Recreational Programs Director before his/her next IM activity. The player is responsible for scheduling the meeting.
- Any physical altercation will result in a one calendar year ban from IM activities.
- UPDS will be contacted if individuals fail to comply with directions from staff and referred to the Dean of Student Life for additional sanctions.
