Science Initiative Financial Aid Portal

To improve services, a new consortial agreement was established in August of 2005. Financial Aid for MC-SRSU students must be set up in person with MC Director of Financial Aid, Latisha Williams. Specific inquiries regarding status of awards may be directed to SRSU Financial Aid Consortia Specialist, Melinda Cullins. Please use these contacts for immediate answers to your questions, as they are direct participants in our program.

To be eligible for financial aid the applicant must:

  1. complete requirements for the SRSU Office of Financial Aid for eligibility,
  2. be admitted to SRSU, and have completed 48 SCH through MC,
  3. be degree pursuant through SRSU,
  4. complete the MC-SRSU form for Financial Aid for each funding semester.

The MC-SRSU form for Financial Aid (available through Latisha Williams) must be completed at the Midland office before each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer I, Summer II) that the applicant intends to apply for financial aid.

The Abell Sul Ross University Scholarship

This scholarship program is for Midland College graduates who desire to continue their education by pursuing upper-level studies at Sul Ross State University.

The scholarship will provide $2,000 per year for two years, on a semester to semester basis to cover tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicant must be a Midland College graduate (must have completed an Associates Degree at MC).
  2. Applicant must have demonstrated academic ability during two years and Midland College with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better.
  3. Applicant must be an Abell-Hanger Society Inductee.
  4. Financial need is a consideration.
  5. Applicant must attend Sul Ross State University
  6. Applicant must procure a recommendation from the Midland College president.

Renewal Requirements:

  1. Participant must maintain a GPA of 2.25 or better on a minimum of 12 SCH per semester.
  2. Participant must not become the subject of disciplinary action by the school.

General:

The Abell-Hanger Foundation will administer the scholarship. Payment will be made directly to Sul Ross State University. Grade reports must be submitted immediately following each semester to determine eligibility for renewal of scholarship.
