Advising ServicesThe Counseling and Advising Center, located in Ferguson Hall, Room 112 (432) 837-8203, is responsible for providing academic advisement and other related services to students who do not declare a major, who are admitted on probation, or who do not meet TSI (Texas Success Initiative) requirements. The center assists students in taking courses to complete the Core Curriculum requirements at Sul Ross State University. The core curriculum consists of 46 hours of 16 classes. The classes fall into three areas:
Please refer to your specific bachelor's degree requirements for more detailed information. Remember: The basic skills component must be completed within the first 45 semester hours of enrollment. However, before English Composition and Mathematics can be taken, the corresponding areas of TSI must be passed. Basic General Knowledge: 19 hours in seven classes Fine Arts – three semester hours from:FA 1301 – Fine Arts Appreciation Kinesiology – two semester hours from:PE 1150 – Concepts of Wellness Social Sciences – three semester hours from:ANTH 1301 – Cultural Anthropology Literature – three semester hours from:ENG 2301 – Literary Types (or other literature course in English) Laboratory Science – eight semester hours from:ASTR 1401 – Descriptive Astronomy BASIC Skills Component: 12 hours in four classes English Composition – two classes (six semester hours) from:ENG 1301 – Composition and Rhetoric I Mathematics – one class (three semester hours) from: Oral Communications – one class (three semester hours) from: |
