Policies

Sul Ross State University Recreational Programs provides equipment rentals to the entire SRSU community to encourage everyone to enjoy the outdoors without being held back by the cost of gear.  We can also help you plan a trip with information about local destinations or activities.  Reservations for equipment rental should be made at least 24-hours in advance.  Some items are free, while others have a $5.00 fee associated with their usage, to be paid before the gear is checked out.  A current SRSU ID will also be needed to borrow items.

When returning gear, make sure everything is clean and dry.  If any equipment is returned dirty, a $10 cleaning fee may be charged.  Likewise, if the equipment is damaged to an extent beyond normal usage, a complete replacement cost fee will be charged.  Please check with Rec. Programs Staff to discuss proper cleaning procedure for each item being checked out.

Gear is typically checked out for one weekend at a time, but other arrangements can be made if necessary.  If gear is not returned by the agreed-upon date, a $15 late fee will be charged.  If all equipment is not returned after a reasonable amount of time, one's account may be charged for the total cost of the equipment's replacement.  Please call the office to let us know about circumstances that may keep you from returning the gear at the proper time.

Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, stakes, tarps, backpacks, stoves, mess kits / cookware, dutch ovens, canteens, lanterns, first aid kits, etc.
