Student Government AssociationThe purpose of the Student Government Association is to act as a liaison to the faculty, administration, and staff on behalf of the student body. Our responsibility is to listen and, when appropriate, act upon the suggestions and concerns expressed by the student body, to foster recognition of student rights and the university responsibilities to the students, to act in the students' best interest when participating in the development of university policy and sitting on university committees, and to demonstrate leadership, honesty, and integrity by our actions. To become a Congressional Member of the Student Government Association, a person must be a student at Sul Ross State University with a 2.0 GPA for Undergraduates, 3.0 for Graduates. SGA Congress has 20 Senators and a representative for each student organization. To be an Executive Officer, a person must have served in the SGA for at least one year and have a GPA of 2.5. All members are elected by the student body regardless of race, creed, sex, origin, or disability. As SGA is the voice of Sul Ross students, all students benefit from the services and programs of SGA. SGA assists students and student organizations improve their experience at Sul Ross.
