T.J. BarberNORTH AURORA, Ill. -- Sul Ross junior runningback T.J. Barber has been selected to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Division III South All-Region football team for the 2006 season.

The Midland native finished his junior year with the Lobos netting 1046 yards on the ground off of 176 carries and 15 touchdowns and averaged 116 yards per game. His season long was a 66-yard sprint in Sully’s 35-6 season opening win against Southwestern Assemblies of God.

He was selected as the 2004 American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year while picking up ASC Second Team All-Conference accolades.

Barber is also a two-time ASC first team all-conference choice from his sophomore and junior campaigns. He also garnered conference player of the week honors in 2006 after Sully defeated Howard Payne for the first time in 18 years, 60-56.

Barber posted 19 carries for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets and set a career rushing mark of 2339 yards surpassing Danny Faust’s 2287 yards set back in the mid 1960’s.

For his Lobo career, Barber is 39 yards shy of the 3000 yard post with 2961 career yards.
