PINEVILLE, Louisiana-- Louisiana College hammered out 482 yards while holding the Lobos to 117 as the Wildcats shut down the Sul Ross offense in a 26-0 ASC victory on Saturday.

The Cats outmuscled Sul Ross on most of the stat sheet with 150 yards on the ground compared to Sully's 85. The Lobo passing game took a hit as the home team held the Pack to 32 yards through the air. LC posted 332.

Slot man Kellen Gierke netted 25 yards off the rush with four carries. Cameron Hollines nabbed one completion from quaterback Reggie Collins for 21 yards.

Jamal Johnson led defenders with 11 tackles. He also posted a breakup and a sack for a loss of four yards.

After a dormant opening period, the Wildacts took the initiative as place kicker John Michiels nailed a 21-yard field to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead at the 12:33 mark, second quarter.

Louisiana College would go to the pass for their second score as Austin Proctor connected with Jordan Rideaux from 31 yards out. The kick by Michiels was good and gave the Cats a 10-0 advantage with 6:08 left before the half.

In the third quarter, Collins was brought down in his own end zone on a quarterback keep which gave LC a 12-0 lead at 5:37.

The Wildcats then turned to their special teams as Rideaux cashed in on a 70 yard punt return off the foot of Michael Van Wagner. Michiels extra point kick gave Louisiana College a commanding 19-0 favor with under two minutes remaining in the third.

LC scored for the final time in the fourth period as Chad Hindman crossed the goal line on a 26-yard sprint. Michiels converted the extra point to give the Wildcats a 26-0 lead at 5:52.

The Cats held a lifeless Lobo offense at bay for the 26-0 victory.

Sul Ross drops to 2-6 on the season and 2-4 in American Southwest Conference play. Louisiana College moves to 5-3 and 4-2.

The Lobos will face Mississippi College (6-2, 5-1) for homecoming next week at Jackson Field. The Choctaws suffered a 38-24 setback in Clinton to Howard Payne on Saturday. The upset drops MC to second place in the conference standings behind league leader Mary Hardin-Baylor.
