Professional Athletes: Any person who has established oneself as a professional in any sport will be ineligible in the sport or it related counterpart. Intramural Captain's ResponsibilitiesEach team will have a designated intramural captain. The method of selecting this captain is left up to each team. This individual serves as a liaison between the Recreational Programs staff and his/her team members. It is important that the department has current contact information for team captains. Intramural captains' responsibilities include:
Rescheduling PolicyThe Recreational Programs staff does its best to schedule events that will work around students' schedules. Captains should make the staff aware of conflicts during the captains' meeting and we will try to accommodate as the schedule allows. However, we have many events to schedule and limited time to do so. Realistically, it is impossible to avoid all conflicts and at times choices must be made by individuals between activities. When conflicts do arise, please follow the procedures outlined here. As soon as possible, contact the Recreational Programs staff. Together, the staff and the captain will come up with two alternate times based on facility, supervisors, and officials availability. The staff member will then contact the opponent's captain with these alternatives. The captain of the opposing team will have the option to leave the game as is or accept one of the proposed times. The Recreational Programs staff member will then call the original team captain back with the outcome. The Director of Recreational Programs must approve all rescheduled games. All requests for reschedules must be made at least 24 hours before the original scheduled game time. Monday games must be reschedule before Friday. Disciplinary ActionAll violations will be handled by the Recreational Programs Director. Individuals who violate rules will be subject to disciplinary action including, but not limited to game or tournament suspension. Cases involving serious violations will be referred to the Dean of Student Life for further disciplinary action. Team captains (as well as the individuals who commit the violation) will be held responsible for their team members' behavior and eligibility status. RulesPlease see Recreational Programs staff for complete rules for each specific activity. See Rules of Sportsmanship for more information about what type of behavior is expected. |
