Instructions for the Online Mentoring Program

1. Log on to the Internet.
2. Go to www.sulross.edu.
3. Click on the arrow for the Quick Links menu.
4. Select Blackboard.
5. Click on Student Login.
6. Type in your username and password.
   username: gearup
   password: reach
7. Click on Gear Up Mentoring Program. You will see the announcement page with information about Mindbenders, the Point System and contact information for your coordinator.
8. Look at the course menu options on the left hand side of the page.
9. Click on Discussion Board.
10. Browse through the career areas and click on one that you're interested in.
11. Click on any items in red to read what mentors or other students have written.
12. Click on Add New Thread.
13. Type your full name and school in the "Subject" box.
14. Click in the message box and type your message (This can include an introduction about yourself, your interests, and questions about the career field.)
15. When you are finished typing, click the Submit button at the bottom right.

You're done! You can check back every few days to see if your mentor has responded and to add more messages in this area or other career areas. You'll receive points for posting messages as long as they are well thought out and show a true interest in the career field.
