Highlights from ANRS & Rodeo Exes 2007 Reunion

The Social at the Crystal was well attended and a good time was had by all thanks, in part, to the beverages donated by Permian Distributing, the briskets donated by Mustang Field Service, beans donated by Rod Devoll, and door prizes donated by the Sul Ross Bookstore and the SR Alumni Association.

The Roping got underway Saturday morning, with the following results:

Big thanks to Tim and Rexanne Leary, Chance Campbell, and Ryon and Melissa Wash for donating the stock for the roping and Altgelt Saddlery and Big Bend Saddlery for donating breast collars for the barrel race and all around.

At the business meeting at noon on Saturday, President Morgan and Dr. Kinucan addressed the crowd on events and happenings at Sul Ross and the election was held.

During the roping, a concession stand was offered by Richard Newsome who donated all of the proceeds back to the Association!

The 1st annual Poker Tournament got started with 13 players.  It came down between Rush Carter and Don Lambert.  Ultimately Rush came out the winner.

The Buckle Awards and Auctions took place at the Alpine Country Club and was well attended.  Thanks to Tom Brown for Auctioneering and all of the folks that bid on the live auction items, as well as, the silent auction items.  And a special thanks to the following individuals and businesses that donated items for the auction:

Sunday morning brought 37 golfers in a four man scramble playing for the buckle (1st place), ball markers (2nd place) and trophies.  Thanks to Oglesby Ranch Co. and Par-Tee Cattle Co. for donating the buckles and Danny and Kim Jackson for donating the ball markers and trophies.

Overall – the Reunion was it’s usual success.  We were able to provide $8,000. in scholarships (1/2 in academic scholarships and ½ in rodeo scholarships) AND increase the future scholarship fund by $2,000.!  Of course, the following donors assisted greatly in providing the financial support necessary to hold the reunion:
