Alumni Association Board DutiesThe Board shall oversee the formulation and implementation of certain alumnus' programs and events in cooperation with the Executive Director including, but not limited to, the selection of recipients of Distinguished Alumni Awards; the planning and implementation of alumni program and functions at Homecoming and distribution of proceeds available through alumni scholarships which are to be administered by the Board acting in concert with the Office of Alumni Relations. Eight (8) Board members are elected by the general membership, two (2) members from each of the four colleges of the University, specifically the *School of Agricultural & Natural Resource Sciences (formerly RAS), *School of Arts and Sciences, *School of Professional Studies, and the Rio Grande College (RGC), and Two (2) Board members-at-large appointed to Section 8.C. of the Alumni Association bylaws.; One (1) currently enrolled student appointed by the University President, and one (1) member appointed by President. Officers of the Association, specifically the President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer are elected by and from the Board. Officers serve a one (1) year term. Officers for 2008-2009 will be elected at the first 2008-2009 board meeting. Selection of candidates are nominated by an appointed Nominating Committee comprised of four (4) persons, one person from each of the four Schools of the University, for purpose of compiling a group of proposed candidates from which the above parties might be elected. Those persons confirmed who desire to run for Board positions must be a member in good standing of the Alumni Association. The election of the parties is by written ballot prepared by the Executive Director of the Association and transmitted to the Active members of the Association. Results of the election are made known at the annual (Homecoming) meeting of the general membership meeting of the Association. Each of these Board members is elected for a two (2) year term and may be re-elected. |
