In October 2008, Sul Ross State University was awarded a Title V development grant as Hispanic-serving institution from the U.S. Department of Education to expand its Learning Communities and Developmental Education programs for entering freshmen. The program will be based on other national programs proven to enhance student retention.
This first-year experience at Sul Ross is designed to assist new students with their transition to college and provide them with the skills that will help them succeed throughout their academic careers. The program also gives new students chances to meet other new students and develop peer relationships, and an opportunity to work closely with both faculty and advisors.
Congratulations to the Title V team for completing 100 percent of their goals for year one.
