Health Insurance

The mandatory medical fee does NOT cover health insurance. University athletes have limited supplemental accident through the Physical Education department; call (432) 837-8226 for details.

The health insurance requirement for domestic students at Sul Ross is fully voluntary. It is strongly recommended that these students maintain a comprehensive health plan. International students must show proof of health insurance that is good in the United States. Information on health insurance basics and college student coverage is provided by the Texas Department of Insurance.

The American College Student Association is one of many student organizations that offer group health insurance to its members, or choose an individual plan such as Assurant Health's Student Select or AIP International. Another option is to locate an insurance broker such as Collegiate Risk Management to help find the best coverage for the lowest cost.
