Thanks to everyone that made the Earth Day Celebration2009 a success!

The 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

Below is information about last years event....

2nd Annual Earth Day Celebration (April 2009)!

The Second Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 12:00-5:00pm at Kokernot Lodge. The purpose of the celebration is to increase awareness about the environment and local organizations and businesses that promote the sustainable use of the earth's resources. There will be music, nature presentations, green-demonstrations, eco-friendly crafts for kids, art and solar oven contests, and much more! Admission and food are free!! Donations will be accepted.

If you are a vendor or organization that would like to have a booth, please download and complete the Vendor Sign-Up Form.

Speakers/Presentations

The following people will be presenting at various times throughout the day:

• Dr. Chris Ritzi - Bat Conservation

• Bennett Jones - Solar Energy

• Blakely Davis - Kokernot Lodge Restoration Project

• Deborah Tout - Organic Gardening

• Alyssa Burgin - Climate Change

• Martha Latta - Alpine Recycles

• Texas State Senator Carlos Uresti (3:30pm)

Contests

Prizes include a solar oven, t-shirts, and more!

Drawing Contest — 4 age categories: 7 & under, 8-12, 13-17 years old, 18 & above.  All drawings must be about Earth Day, the environment, or conservation issues.

TrashyArt Contest — Make that trash into art! Please nothing that will decompose, overly messy, or smells badly. Supplies will be available at the event to create your masterpiece there!

Solar Oven Cook Off — Bring your homemade solar oven or make your own at the event!
