The Department of Languages and Literature offers degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate level, minors in three fields, as well as courses in support programs. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply for departmental scholarships and to participate in a variety of department-sponsored student activities.

Congratulations Sigma Tau Delta Inductees
On Thursday, April 3, 2014 five Sul Ross students in the Department of Languages and Literature were inducted into the Alpha Zeta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society. Bethany Gaylor (graduating senior); Matthew Hall (graduating senior); Jennifer Martinez (junior); Ulices Martinez (junior); Francis “Tres” Wright III (graduate student, MA, English) were each presented with honor cords, medallions, pins, and certificates signifying their addition into the honor society. Membership into Sigma Tau Delta is by invitation only. Members must hold at least a 3.0 GPA, be an English major or minor, and be dedicated to fostering “literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English.” Members of this international honor society are distinguished by their “high achievement in English language, literature, and writing.” After the ceremony, the new inductees were feted by an intimate gathering of faculty and peers. The faculty advisor is Dr. Rosemary Briseño.
