The Alpine Community Band is a traditional concert-style band with woodwinds, brass, and percussion which performs around the Big Bend region of West Texas . Currently under the direction of Michael Lippard (email), the ensemble performs seasonal concerts, special events, and at community activities such as Fourth of July In The Park.
Musicians come from all areas of the Big Bend (Alpine, Ft. Davis, Marfa, Marathon, Calamity Creek, among others) and ages range from 16 to well over 80.
Sponsored by various individuals in the area and the Music Program at Sul Ross State University, the band meets every Tuesday night from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the Band Hall on the Sul Ross Campus.
