   John D. Dorris is a longtime resident of Iraan, Texas. He is a successful rancher, raising sheep, cattle and goats for the past 34 years. Due to weather conditions and international competition, Dorris is one of a few ranchers left in West Texas whose primary income is generated through ranching. He is a shrewd businessman with an established profitable operation that has provided a comfortable living for himself and his family.
   Mr. Dorris met with Loretta Garcia, Senior Certified Business Advisor, Big Bend Region SBDC, who, for the past nine years, has been assisting him with requesting USDA forms and information to seek operating loans from lenders. Mr. Dorris was assisted by Garcia in filling out the required USDA forms and information to obtain a USDA Farm Service Agency direct loan. Dorris used the added funding to increase the size (rams and ewes) of his flock and ultimately, the future of his business. The USDA Farm Service Agency representatives who facilitate the overall guarantee portion of the loan are Bill McAnally and Lori Jeter.
   The total hours spent on this project was 2.75 hours.
