Rebecca Lewis has thirty-two years of experience in
the healthcare industry in different capacities. Ms. Lewis researched the
area medical needs and decided she wanted to open and operate her own
medical clinic in Alpine. Her clinic is named West Texas Medical Clinic.
Lewis invested approximately $18,035 and other assets to open West Texas
Medical Clinic on February 25, 2008. She knew the need for additional
working capital to fund the initial few months of the medical clinic.
Ms. Lewis came to the Big Bend Region SBDC and Senior Business Advisor
Loretta Garcia for assistance in generating a loan application in the amount
of $41,000. A commercial loan was approved and funded with the joint help
of Lawson Allen and R. Zach Dean, both of Fort Davis State Bank. As a result
of the loan, one new job was created and two existing jobs were retained.
