Talk Saves Lives

Suicide Prevention Seminar Set
By Laura Nelson

Everyone has either been directly affected by suicide and/or depression or holds someone close who has been affected, leaving those it touches wondering if there is something they could have done.

The Psychology Club and the Counseling Club of Sul Ross State Univ. Rio Grande College invite the community to “Talk Saves Lives,” an introductory seminar about suicide prevention. Presented by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)-South Texas Chapter, the event is free and open to the public.

AFSP-South Texas Chapter Chair, Michelle Ramirez, will discuss the warning signs of suicide and provide information about finding the help needed to prevent it. AFSP’s goals include saving lives, supporting those impacted by suicide, and empowering communities to influence cultural change to incorporate mental health as an important component of overall wellness.

Be a part of the conversation on Wed., Sept. 12, 2018 from 4-5:30 p.m. inside the Rio Grande College auditorium in Uvalde at 2623 Garner Field Rd.

AFSP-South Texas chapter will provide a light meal, so let us know you plan to attend by Mon., Sept. 10 by emailing or calling Jesus Ramon at 830.719.8311.
