The Child Care & Family Support Center at Sul Ross State University provides affordable year-round care for the children of SRSU students, faculty and staff members. Serving children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old, it is currently the only licensed center in Alpine providing care for children under the age of one.

The child care program was established in 2002 to provide care to children of Sul Ross students.  Children from the community are accepted when openings are available.

The center strives to be a development center, not just a day care. The staff includes SRSU students which receive annual training with an emphasis on areas of development, setting developmentally appropriate goals and providing positive behavior management which meet standard licensing requirements.

Full-time students receive discounted tuition rates and can receive extra tuition help through the Workforce Child Care Services Program.

The center is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services. Funding is provided in part by a Department of Education grant as well as through tuition payments, fund raisers and donations.
