Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The mission of the Office for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (ODEI) at SRSU is to create a campus environment where all students, staff, and faculty are welcome and included. ODEI creates a network of support programs for students, staff, and faculty that provide opportunities for meaningful cross-cultural interactions and discourse that promote respect for diversity and equity. We strive to create a campus climate in which the benefits of multiculturalism, diversity, and equity are appreciated and valued. Additionally, we work with offices, departments, programs, and student organizations across our campuses to host cultural celebrations and activities that are educational and that enhance our students’ abilities to succeed in a global community.

About the Office – Our Objectives:

• Development of Cultural Competence: Promote understanding and appreciation of cultural differences and similarities
• Focus on Identity and Culture: Concentration on specific targeted communities related to ability, status, age, ethnicity, gender, national origin, native language, race, religion, sexual orientation, globalization, and socioeconomic background.
• Commitment to Diversity Issues Today: Programs celebrate differences and sameness, and bring awareness to matters of social reform.
