Office for Multicultural Affairs

The mission of the SRSU Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is to support a university environment where all students, staff, and faculty feel welcome and included. We create support networks and develop programs for all members of our community to provide opportunities for meaningful, educational, interactions and learning experiences that promote respect for all cultures and identities. We aim to create a campus climate in which the benefits of multiculturalism can be appreciated. Housed in the Division of Student Life, OMA works with campus organizations, offices, academic programs, and community members to host educational cultural celebrations and activities that enhance our students’ abilities to succeed in a global community.

WHAT DOES OMA DO?

• Campus Advocacy for ALL individuals and identities

• Support Students, Employees, Groups, & Organizations

• Organize programs, workshops, training events, and opportunities to engage with diverse groups and identities. (E.g.: social mixers, movie nights, talks, cultural celebrations, etc.)

• Advise on policy, procedures, and best practices

• Cultural Leadership Certification Program

• Maintain the Multicultural Lounge, including a free pantry and kitchenette for anyone in need of a meal or snack, a charging station, a resource library, de-stressing tools, first-aid,  comfortable seating, and sensory-friendly lighting. (MUC 212)

• Maintain the SRSU Lactation Room (LH 205) for any member of the SRSU Community in need of a space to feed, pump, and/or store milk. A diaper changing station and disposal are available in the space.

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of menstrual hygiene dispensers in all bathrooms on the Robinson Mall-Alpine Campus, along with SRSU Health Services and Title V.
